Jeff Mulzer – Evansville Chamber Member of the Year
The Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce awarded our own Jeff Mulzer with the prestigious Chamber Member of the Year award, which was presented to him in a ceremony that took place on September 14, 2004. Jeff has been an active member of the Evansville Chamber of Commerce for six years and has served on the Board of Directors for the past three. The Evansville Chamber of Commerce chooses a Chamber Member of the Year based on several important criteria. This criteria centers around achieving the Evansville Chamber’s Mission by strengthening our local economy by participating and leading activities that increase Evansville’s competitive advantage in the state of Indiana and entire country, as a whole. Congratulations to Jeff on receiving this prestigious award in our community!
EVANSVILLE & I-164 RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS CAPP AWARD
As 2004 reached an end, INDOT began gathering nominees to select a Top Large Producer and Top Small Producer from each of the six districts in the state. Winners from each district were chosen and set to compete statewide for recognition as the best overall. To our excitement, Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. – I-164 (Fickas Pit) was named winner of the Top Small Producer “Quality Achievement Award” in our district and the prestigious CAPP Award for “Outstanding Producer” in the entire state of Indiana. The Evansville Yard was also awarded the Top Large Producer “Quality Achievement Award” in the Vincennes District, as well.
Some of the basic criteria INDOT considered before awarding these honors were:
- Results of annual audits and spot checks;
- Quality and consistency of our products;
- Working relationships between Mulzer employees and customers (including INDOT); and
- The closed loop system on information from production to end users, our satisfied customers.
According to INDOT, Vincennes District, the Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. team beat the competition hands down. However, the decision was extremely difficult as to which Mulzer entity the award would go to. The final decision came down to which location simply forgot to dot an “i” or cross a “t” when submitting information, and the sales revenue of CAPP Certified Material from each respective location.
Once again, from the quarry striping crews to the truck drivers delivering material to our customers, 2004 was a productive and rewarding year. Effective communication and working well with one another is what makes Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. and our customers a winning combination. Thanks to everyone’s steadfast and hard work, Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. has received this prominent award in the Vincennes District every year since it’s introduction in 1997. Our operation has won best overall 2 of these years. Congratulations to everyone!
Other Mulzer Awards
Mulzer’s concern for the environment and our communities has won the company many awards, including the About Face Award from the National Stone Association, and an Operation City Beautiful Award from the city of Evansville, Indiana. Both of these were given to the Evansville Yard, one of the busiest rock distribution yards in the Midwest.
An About Face Award was also presented to the Griffin Quarry. Landscaping done by the employees, provide a pleasant workplace for them and the general public. We applaud the extra attention to detail that many of our employees provide to constantly improve our image with the public.
