INDOT Names Mulzer Outstanding Aggregate Supplier

Ed Gehr, IMAA President presents Bob Lingerfelt, MCS with a CAP award

Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. Certified Aggregate Producer Technicians at our Charlestown, Ind. quarry and Newburgh and Evansville, Ind. yards were honored recently for their excellent quality control work and cooperation with INDOT in 2010. The awards were announced on February 2ndby Ron Walker, INDOT’s Manager of Materials during the Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association’s 2011 Winter Workshops in Carmel, Ind.

These awards allow INDOT the opportunity to recognize Indiana’s best Certified Aggregate Producers for their outstanding performance in a calendar year, which includes providing superior materials to build state highways.  Only twelve companies were recognized in the state of Indiana, including the three Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. facilities.

INDOT established the Certified Aggregate Producer Program (CAPP) in 1993 to allow producers to take responsibility for all aspects of aggregate production. Certified producers follow a strict quality control plan.  Production, sampling, and testing procedures outlined in each company’s quality control plan are carefully monitored by INDOT. The Certified Aggregate Producer Program saves the state time and money by reducing the amount of material testing done at project sites while maintaining superior quality control.

Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. was eligible to receive the awards because we worked cooperatively with INDOT, participated in an INDOT audit in 2010, and demonstrated a commitment to quality by going above and beyond the minimum requirements of the program.

Only two winners were chosen in each INDOT district:

·       Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc., Newburgh Yard

·       Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc., Evansville Plant

Seymour District:
