Quarry & Depot Locations to Fulfill Any Size Contract
The heart of the Mulzer Crushed Stone operation is the quarry, where millions of tons of limestone are shot, crushed, and screened using sophisticated processing technologies. Quarry locations at Temple, Tower, Charlestown, Cape Sandy, and New Amsterdam have the capacity to fulfill very large contracts on a continuing basis, today, and well into the 21st century.
Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. is the Ohio Valley’s largest supplier of Crushed Limestone, Sand and Gravel. Our six quarry locations regularly supply crushed limestone that is as large as a car, or as small as dust. River and pit dredges allow us to provide most sand and gravel products. Mulzer can make virtually any product specification to meet your construction needs.
Construction Aggregates
Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. supplies crushed stone, sand and gravel that is used in construction projects. This includes aggregate for highways, commercial construction and residential construction. The company has certifications in the states we operate in: Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and West Virginia. We also supply aggregates to Ohio, Pennsylvania and other states. Our rock has been approved for use on Federal Corps of Engineers projects.
Concrete Aggregates
The company has supplies of AP approved stone for use in concrete.
Erosion Control
Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. has invested millions of dollars in equipment to produce high quality rip-rap and derrick stone. We stock 18″ rip-rap at the river quarries and can make larger sizes by special order. We have made and barge-shipped rock as large as 6′ x 6′ x 6′ (approximately 17 tons each).
Flue-Gas Desulfurization
The company has identified ledges of high-calcium limestone that make excellent “scrubber stone”. This stone is used by power plants to remove sulfur-dioxide produced by burning coal. Mulzer is the leading supplier of high-calcium limestone for flue-gas desulfurization in the Ohio Valley.
Anti-Skid Aggregates
The Charlestown Quarry has ledges of Dolomite that has been approved for Superpave projects. Superpave is a standard created through the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP). This specialized stone is used in highway construction to improve the skid characteristics of asphalt. It’s polish-resistant characteristics help make roads safer. Mulzer supplies this material throughout multiple locations within our market area.
Aglime
Mulzer supplies high quality aglime to the agricultural community. Growers use this product to neutralize pH in acidic soils. As soils become more acidic, fertilizers and other chemicals become less effective. Our yards and quarries supply high-calcium and high-magnesium aglime. Product Testing & Quality Control
The Mulzer companies strive to maintain the highest quality possible. We follow the customer’s guidelines to guarantee our aggregates have met all specifications. We test our construction aggregates under Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and West Virginia’s quality control program. We ensure compliance with any state we supply to. Flue-glass desulfurization products are tested using a Union Solar Series Atomic Absorption Spectrometer to ensure consistent quality products.
